It's the first of May and in the beautiful Commonwealth of Virginia, that means.....STRAWBERRIES!! After stalking the local strawberry patch for at least a month, they opened for the first time this afternoon. We threw all of the boys into the car and off we went. Jacob and Jeffrey were ready and actually did a great job picking the beautiful red ones. Jacob, the perfectionist, had the biggest and best berries in his bucket. Jeffrey, the free spirit, ATE the biggest and best and put the so-so berries in his bucket. I had Joshua in the Baby Bjorn, so my picks were limited. (Editor's note...you can't just bend over when you have a nine pound 3 week old strapped to you. The motion is more of a squat. While my thighs and behind will appreciate the squat, it was a little difficult to balance, hold the baby, and search for the perfect strawberries.) This was the first visit to the strawberry patch of many to come. We try to go once a week during May.
The Paula Deen strawberry pie is already in the fridge, setting. I LOVE strawberry season!!!
